Concussion, TBI & Persistent Concussion Symptoms
Helping you find steadier ground after concussion through personalised, whole-person care.
Who this is for
This support may be helpful if you are:
-
recovering from a recent concussion
-
continue to experience symptoms weeks or months after a concussion
-
living with persistent post-concussion symptoms that are affecting everyday life
-
have experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and are looking for complementary support alongside their existing healthcare team
-
would like a holistic approach that considers both physical recovery and overall wellbeing
Recovering from a concussion can look very different from one person to the next. While many people recover within a few weeks, others continue to experience symptoms that affect work, study, exercise, family life, or simply feeling like themselves again.
In clinic, I take time to understand your unique experience, your health history, and how your symptoms are affecting your daily life. Together we'll explore what matters most to you and develop an individualised treatment plan that may include acupuncture, lifestyle guidance, pacing strategies, and practical support to help you move forward at a pace your nervous system can tolerate.

You're Not Alone
Having experienced seven head injuries myself, I understand just how confusing, frustrating and isolating concussion recovery can feel. I know what it's like when everyday tasks suddenly become exhausting, when progress isn't linear, and when the people around you don't always understand what you're experiencing.
During my own recovery, I wrote a blog about navigating life after concussion—sharing some of the challenges, lessons, and practical strategies that helped me along the way. If you have a few minutes, I hope you'll find it reassuring and helpful. If it resonates with you, I'd also encourage you to share it with family, friends, or colleagues. Sometimes it can help the people around you better understand what life with a concussion or persistent concussion symptoms can really be like.

Looking at the bigger picture
Recovery from concussion is often most effective when healthcare professionals work together. Where appropriate, I am happy to work alongside your GP, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, neurologist, psychologist, or other members of your healthcare team to help ensure your care is coordinated and centred around your goals.
Acupuncture is just one part of the picture. During your sessions we'll also explore practical aspects of recovery such as pacing, rest rhythms, nutrition, movement, stress management, and other lifestyle factors that may support your overall wellbeing. Together we'll develop a realistic, manageable plan that helps you gradually return to the activities that are most meaningful to you.
Acupuncture is complementary healthcare and is not a substitute for emergency medical assessment. If you have recently experienced a head injury with worsening symptoms, loss of consciousness, repeated vomiting, increasing confusion, seizures, weakness, or other concerning neurological symptoms, seek urgent medical attention immediately.

What to Expect
Your first appointment includes time to discuss your injury, current symptoms, medical history, and the goals that are most important to you. Following a thorough assessment, we'll discuss whether acupuncture is appropriate for your situation and develop an individualised treatment plan together. Throughout your care we'll regularly review your progress and adapt your treatment as your needs change.

Suggested Appointment Options
Most people begin with an initial-style appointment (these are 75min or 90min), as this gives us plenty of time to talk about your symptoms and how this is affecting your life while still leaving plenty of room for treatment. Then we move on to shorter follow up options either weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.
