Acupuncture & ACC

There have been some big changes to how your ACC claim number works in regards to acupuncture. This is a short guide on the new rules around treatment so you know where you stand.

ACC acupuncture paperwork sign claim number
ACC paperwork needs to be filled out by your GP, physio, osteo or chiro

As an acupuncturist, I can't fill in the paperwork and submit an ACC claim on your behalf. You need to see a GP, physiotherapist, osteopath or chiropractor to get this done and receive a claim number.

Once this has been accepted by ACC and you have your claim number, you can then use it to get acupuncture treatments.

Your claim number is valid for 12 months from the date ACC approves it - this means you can start your treatment at any time within that time frame.

From the date of your first acupuncture treatment, you have 12 weeks until your claim number expires and can no longer be used for acupuncture. It will still be valid for your physio, osteo and chiro treatments, the rules are different for those practitioners than they are for acupuncturists.
